Linguistics and Grammar Teaching

ANASTASIOS TSANGALIDIS

Anastasios Tsangalidis is a Professor of "Syntax-Semantics"; he studied English and Linguistics in Thessaloniki, Edinburgh, Dublin and Cambridge and holds an MPhil in Linguistics from the University of Dublin (Trinity College, 1994) and a BA(Hons, 1991) and a PhD (1997) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Prior to his employment at Aristotle University, he was employed as a Researcher at the Centre for the Greek Language (March 1999 - December 2000) and then as Lecturer and Assistant Professor at the Department of Linguistics, University of Ioannina (January 2001 - March 2006). He has been teaching courses in general linguistics (morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics), at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He has been a member of many School committees and University bodies.  His main research interests are in the area of syntactic and semantic description and the relevance of grammar to language teaching, focusing on Greek as a Foreign Language. He has worked for several research projects and has published his research in books, journals and conference proceedings.
